We all remember the famous cowboy movie "The Magnificent 7", revolving around the residents of a small town who
were being squashed by the local bad guys. "The Magnificent 7" rode into town and righted the wrong!
These seven cowboys overcame every obstacle and saved the day!
Women Helping Women's "Magnificent 700" is a take off of
the old movie, only we have more to save than a small town.
Every 33 seconds a woman is battered in Harris County, that's 26,355 women beaten
this year. So we need 700 women whom together we will right the wrongs, overcome
obstacles, and save the day!
The Magnificent 700 is a diverse and highly
motivated group of 700 women who have pledged $10 or more a month to assure that displaced
homemakers, battered women, and women living in shelters are provided opportunities they so
desperately need and deserve.
Your commitment of $10 a month for one year will pay the monthly mortgage, liability
insurance, utilities, food and medical attention for the women and their children who seek
our shelter and training.
Thank you for joining us. You will be well rewarded. At special times of the year the
children of our clients draw pictures or get their picture taken playing at the center,
the staff sends copies of them to each "Magnificent 700" member
in appreciation for saving the day!
